HOLIDAY & TIME-OFF REQUEST POLICY

At a glance

•  We follow the head office holiday calendar.

•  Something special comes up? Talk to your Team Leader early.

•  Time off is something we ask for, not announce.

•  The more notice you give, the better for everyone.

•  Your Team Leader needs to confirm before it’s official.

•  This is a career, and we’re building it together.

First things first

Your life outside of work matters. This policy isn’t about making it hard for you when something important comes up. It’s about making sure we plan together so the team keeps running smoothly and nobody’s left scrambling.

You’re part of a real company now. This isn’t the old days of freelancing where you’d just message a client and say “I won’t be in today.” This is a career. We’re investing in you, and we’re planning around you, because you’re important to what we’re building here.

Even if your hours are part-time right now, we’re thinking long-term. Most of the roles here grow into full-time positions, and we want you to grow with them. That means we need to understand your role in the company and plan accordingly.

How holidays work here

We follow the head office holiday calendar. Put simply, head office is where your Team Leader lives, and that’s the calendar everyone on the team operates under.

With things being virtual these days, it’s pretty common for one company to have people spread across two or three different countries. If we tried to honour every holiday in every location, work would never get done and it would get confusing fast. So everyone operates under the head office calendar of where their Team Leader lives. It keeps things simple, fair, and consistent.

When something special comes up

From time to time, something special might come up for you. We get that. And when it does, you’re able to put in a request to your Team Leader.

The important thing to remember is that time-off requests are a conversation, not a notification.

How to request time off

It’s pretty simple. Bring it up with your Team Leader in scrum, give them some context, and give as much notice as you can. There’s no magic number of days, but the earlier you ask, the easier it is for everyone. Planning ahead goes a long way.

Once you’ve made the request, your Team Leader will get back to you.

That’s it. We’re glad you’re here, and we want this to work long-term. So let’s plan together.
